I know that if they put a tax on sex, I'll get a healthy rebate every year.  bigsmile

That sounds like a good idea to put the number of units on the bottle.  I'm sure a lot of people have no idea how much of a certain drink they can have before they are over the limit.

So here is my view on PP and her idea about limits I take it that would refer to drink drive limits and if so I would like to say DRINK AND DRIVING SHOULD NEVER BE IN THE SAME SENTANCE
in that if you drive then do not drink "end of discussion" or if you drink then DONT DRIVE. drink drive limit should be zero!

as for more label's then what is wrong with the % per Vol that is on the bottle already?

I agree with you Rad, but let's be realistic~lots of people drink and drive, and I think it would be helpful if they could see on the bottle how much of whatever-it-is will put them over the limit.

to some extent the amount of alcohol depends on the person. And some pubs would go out of business if the limit was 0

When my son and his mates used to out at the weekend, they took it in turns to be a designated driver and he only drank soft drinks and I think that is a very responsible thing to do

You wouldn`t catch me even drinking  half a shandy, if I was going be driving.
If people want to drink, what`s wrong with getting a taxi, lift or even walking

I will stick to my post IF YOU want to drink then find an alternative mode of transport ie TAXI BUS TRAIN or WALK, even being on a cycle, horse rollerblades is a NO NO from me.

Yes driving to the pub, club whatever is easy so is KILLING via the impliment YOU are supossed to be in complete control of.

How many would take the driving test after a pint or two? I bet none because "well you wouldnt would you"

enough is how much?

When in doubt leave it out.

sorry but subject too close to be comfortable with...

I have read through the posts and I think the subject has wavered off from my original

I was just mentioning that now the tobacco industry is being hit with signs on packets and not allowed to advertise and the smokers are shunned outside to purvey their habit there is now a load of "do goodies" whom are at a loose end so they have seen media reports on binge drinking and think that WE need to be told that drinking is bad for us?

I know loads of people that have no problem with drink
They drink, get drunk, fall over, have hangovers and all this for them is not difficult so their is no problem!

what next tax, labels or the like on sex?

just to go back to drink driving I believe it should be zero tolerance full stop, as one unit for one person could equal more for a smaller person so to stop all mistakes no drinking simple.
As for original post, when everyone started on about no smoking anywhere, and thought it was a good idea, I did say at the time be careful because when they have done with us smokers they will turn on something you enjoy, mainly drinking and lo and behold I was right, you can read this government like a book.
