Microchipping
« on: 12 November 2009, 00:34:34 »
For anyone local to Devon - I am now a registered implanter for cats, dogs, rabbits, hares and guinia pigs.  I completed the course on Oct 31. Any money I make from doing this goes into Feline Network.

A lady that I'm seeing had to have her West Highland Terrier 'Put Down' and she was very upset about it, but she decided to get herself another dog and I drove her down to Sydney to pick it up. It's a Schnauzer and a lovely dog.  She got it from a top Breeder in Australia but because of some very small imperfections, he can't put it in Shows, so my friend got it free because he knew she was a dog lover and wanted a good home for her.  It's Microchipped and had all her shots.  My friend was very lucky to get it for free, as she was willing to pay for it.

When I went down to Sydney, I used her Tom Tom GPS and found it incredible.  I don't know Sydney all that well, but it was a breeze using it and it took me straight to the front door

oh yes - those Sat Nav thingies are great - been in several cars with them in and they are so so accurate.

Good on your pal for giving a dog a good home, I bet she misses her original one though, it is worrying what happens to all the other imperfect dogs who do not pass muster - I bet most of them end up in state pounds to be PTS because no one wants them- so your friend probably saved that little dogs life.

For an animal lover the dog as a pet is perfect in every way and it was only because the breeder couldn't show her that he parted with her as he's got countless other dogs that are worthy 'Show Dogs' and he has to focus on them, but he wanted to make sure that this dog was going to a good home

Ah sounds like the lady is very happy with her new addition - good on her for offering the little dog a home - imperfect or not lol

That's a nice story for an imperfect dog.

My friend Jean in Paignton got a Scottie from a breeder who was getting rid of it (her) because she didn't produce show-worthy pups.  That poor dog was so mistreated and in such terrible condition, it was hard to believe she belonged to a breeder.

Anyway, my friend spent so much time and took such good care of her that she became a beautiful and happy dog.

But she was always my friend's "dog" because she never forgot who had rescued her from that abominable breeder.

The dog is a completely different dog just after 2 weeks.  When my friend first got it(her), she would come near my friend or myself but now she keeps coming up to both of us for a pet.  She's a lovely dog

It's amazing what a little love and attention can do.

That's because we didn't force her.  I told my friend to just leave her alone and when she was ready and didn't feel threatened she'd come to us and it didn't take long before she did

She still barks (the dog that is) when I come round (which is at least twice a week) but she soon comes up to me to get her little pet.  In fact Dreamer, she's spoilt

Then I suggest you have one (or two) as they stimulate the heart and body in production of adrenalin which gives you a buzz

Though pick a subject less scary than Dreamer! after all we don't want you to have a coronary from the trauma of having her in your head :hair:

It's a long time since Dreamer's been on and it's got my mind (yes I have one) imagining all sorts of things

1. Is she dead?

2. Doesn't she love us anymore?

3. Has she emigrated?

4. Is she lost in the Scottish Highlands?

If I don't hear from her soon, I think I'll ring the police  :crybaby2:

Why?
Do you think she may be in custody or 'inside' for crimes against humanity

I was thinking more of a 'Search Party' but your reasons are much more plausible
