had to change the router as the old one died. this one seems much better. can you all report if the igloo seems faster. now using a netgear dg834g. setup wizard works fine, but manually installed mine.
yes for those that noticed thats why the site was down this afternoon

Zipped along really nicely for me.  But that could be because my broadband is in a good mood today.

It doesn't seem any faster to me, but Vista could be the blame for that.  I get nothing but problems with Vista and I'll have to see what Windows 7's like before I jump in at the deep end  :dontknow:

I don't like Vista but on the whole it doesn't give me any probs.  Except when I want to find something and then its absolutely impossible.

When I'm online, it often 'Hangs' and wont go anywhere and I have to reboot my computer.  Another major problem I have, is, I have all my finances in a separate partition and when I go into Excel and click 'Open' I go to the partition where my folders and files are and all I can see are 2 folders and 2 files, (not the folders or files I want) and I have to go into 'Windows Explorer' to get them (they all open in Excel) There are 17 folders with many files in all the folders.  When I first tried to open them in Excel, I thought I had lost them and it's just as well I looked in Windows Explorer.

In XP, I used to use Windows Firewall but with Vista, I'm unable to download 'Windows Update' so I had to disable it and use ZoneAlarm as my Firewall.  There are many other problems, too many to mention

Vista is CRAP!!!!!!!

vista works ok for me apart from taking an awful long time to boot up and it's need to thrash the hard drive for some reason. I use sepecialised software to link to my radios etc and some of that is fiddly to get working.

anyway seems the router has improved things

I know what you mean about how vista loads,

have you thought of running something like this to only load what you want it makes start up faster and I think a bit more stable in running

When it gets like that Debbie, the only thing to sort it out is a complete Format and reinstall

I think a defrag helps and disk cleanup.

A defrag and a disk cleanup may help a bit, but if that doesn't help (and I don't think it will) a Format and reinstall will be needed
