Saying that, alot of server computers are low performance, high stability.

Nothing bad about using a slow computer just for hosting data.

Thought I better update the spec of the machine running the board:-

Its an Intel P4 2GHz with 512Kb Cache and 400FSB
Currently it has 512Mb DDR333 Ram
40Gb ATA133
HP DAT drive for backup.

The software is:-
Gentoo Linux version 2005.0 operating system
Apache 2 Version 2.0.54 webserver
Mysql? version 4.0.24 Database
PHP Version 4.4.4 (what the board is written in)
GD version 2 (for image manipulation)
SMF Version 1.1 Beta (with quite a few mods) the board itself
Awstats 6.4 to show how the board is used

most hack attempts are aimed at windows. most of the ones here are aimed at windows, which of course don't work

"Hacking" is still getting into another computer, its what you do with your access is what defines between and hack and a crack...

Being a white hat myself, I dont know... Are you a black hat, white hat, or the worst... red hat (eugh) ?

as far as i am concerned any attempt to get into my server is bad.be it for stealing info. dumping your files for others whatever. you are stealing resources on my server and my bandwidth. call it what you will. unless you get access to point out flaws to the owner it's still bad.
