I myself like chicken

I do love the taste of fish but unfortunately I have an allergy to something IN fish (sea food) so do not get to eat it often

Where have the regular ones on here gone?
Face Book or Twitter maybe but I find those sites just sooooooooooooooooooooooo dull and as for FB it is so intrusive I just will not go on there.

I don't get here very often because I am away at sea a lot more now than before but do log in when I can, I have a lot to catch up on the model sites I use as well so that tends to occupy some time (sorry) but I did not think this site would have quietened down as much as it has being that most of the posters were in close proximity to each other

Oh well I'll keep looking in all the time the link works

99 how is your working life getting on and have you made a full recovery from your Op?

The other Forum I belong to seems to have slowed down as well, which is a pity.

I don't go on FB or Twitter either.  I've been on FB a couple of times but I found it very boring (maybe I'm doing something wrong)

I hope Igloo does pick up though

I will second that Gerry,
I have several other forums and sites I use and there are two model forums which now seem to be more to the military based model which I am not so those are slowly falling away from my favorites.
I have a FB account and now NEVER even go near it as it has NO appeal for me in any shape way or form, I stopped all the notifications to my email address for "pokes prezzies requests and reminders"
As for Twitter I just have not worked out what the hell that is all about.

I am off at the moment so have some time to myself and the wife (if the children will leave us alone)
I hope your in reasonable health.

Well I've never been on twitter and I've no desire to go there.

I hope Igloo gets a bit more lively soon as your weather gets cooler.

My health is OK (can't complain) and I'm sure if any of our members were poorly, they would let us know???  :dontknow:

Have been to the hospital again for more blood tests? I'm sure they are just collecting it for fun!
My ongoing back problem has been a little worse of late but I am determined to stay working as long as I can

I'm not sure if you mentioned you back problem before Rad but it seems be a very common complaint, which must be very debilitating.  Is it work related?

Having blood tests are quite common to me, as I have to have one at least once a month

Have had problems for many years.
Which all started from one accident (I think) and although it "got better" I now have to see if I can get pain management to continue working.
I am my own worst enemy in that I have built up a high pain threshold and will 'work through' most pains but that has caused more damage and so more pain.
The most annoying part is if I sit or stay still for any length of time then my back (although not painful then) seizes up and so when I do move it is eye watering and breathtakingly painful for about 15 to 20 minutes until I get all the joints to move again.
Advantage to stay working and that is where I am off to on stupid o clock Saturday morning.
So I may not be in a position to post very often but I will try as often as I can

I had a fall in hospital in 2002 and I had a great deal of trouble walking very far.  I had injections, heat treatment and numerous other things to try and get me moving but with no luck.  We went over to the UK in 2004 and before I left, I had an injection directly between my discs, it had to be done under X Ray as it was a very critical procedure.  I was told that it might give me permanent relief, no relief at all, or temporary relief.  It worked great for my trip to the UK and several months after, but the problem started again, so I had the injection again but this time it didn't work.

My Son in Law advised me to go and see a colleague of his who was a rheumatologist, who asked me to go and see a Physiotherapist, she was a Wee Scottish Lassie from Edinburgh and she put me on a lot of stretch exercises and it did the job.  I haven't looked back since

I'm betting that Gerry's "wee Scottish lassie" had more of an effect on him than anything she prescribed for him, lol!

Getting older really sucks, doesn't it!  I am keeping the medical business humming along here in L.A.  I had bronchitis in June which lasted for over 2 months so I am now catching up on all the medical checkups which I had to postpone because I was busy coughing myself to death.  Fortunately, so far, everything has checked out fine, although I need new glasses (as I could have told the optician) because I can no longer read the small print, even with the strongest drugstore spectacles.  Apparently I now have an astigmatism, which complicates matters.  Ugh! (And Kev, if you read this, I don't need any smarty-pants comments!)

I was watching TV several months ago when I noticed that I couldn't see the print very clearly, so I took my glasses off (they're Multifocal) and it was clear as could be.  I still need my glasses for reading but everything other than that I don't have to wear them, I haven't told the RTA (Roads and Traffic Authority) yet, so I hope I don't get pulled over and they read on my licence that I need them for driving.

I had 'Food Poisoning' on Thursday and as you can't make an appointment to see the doctor at the Medical Centre, I hoped that it would pass as a toilet had to be verrry verrry close.  Today (Sunday) I thought I was going to die and I'm not joking, so I rang the Medical Centre and explained my situation to the Receptionist, she asked if there was someone who could come to the Centre to book me in but I told her I lived alone, so she kindly said that she would put my name down and for me to ring in about 90 minutes to see how far my name had progressed, 80 minutes later, I got a call from her to tell me to make my way down to the Centre, I sat down for less than 2 minutes and my name was called.  I just hope I at least feel a little better tomorrow

Oh dear, Gerry, I hope you are fully recovered by now.  I had a nasty few hours last week and had to take the day off work.  I thought perhaps it was the two slabs of celebration cake I had the day before, but no one else got ill, so I guess it was just me!

Yes I'm fine now PP.  It started on the Thursday and I couldn't leave the house, so I rang the Medical Centre on the Sunday and talked to the receptionist who, although you can't make appointments there, put my name down and rang me to tell me to make my way down to the M/C.  I only had to wait no more than 2 minutes to see the doctor who put me on Anti Biotics.

I saw my own doctor several days later because I was still not fully recovered and he said that the Anti Biotics wouldn't have done much good and suggested that I go on Pro Biotics, and now I feel 100%

That's pretty good, 2 minutes wait!  I'm glad to hear you're fully recovered.

Do you get to have 'flu jabs in Oz?  Everyone here is encouraged to get them and persons over 65 are advised to get jabs for pneumonia as well.  I had the 'flu jab this week and am planning on having the pneumonia jab next week.  Fortunately my insurance covers them so I don't have to pay anything.

I get the Flu jab every year and it's free for the over 65's.  I've only had a bad dose of the Flu once, and that's when I was in my mid 30's and as I know just how bad it can be, I try my best not to get a repeat performance

I used to get the flu regularly every New Year's, so I was always missing my friend's Twelfth Night party.  Things are better these days since I have been getting the flu shot!

(And Kev, if you read this, I don't need any smarty-pants comments!) Hey I happen to represent that.

I think you are right about us all getting a bit older. It seems every time I go to get my eyes checked which is every 2 years, I need a stronger pair. The only exception was three years ago when I lost my new ones within a week of getting them (pretty sure the wife tossed them out by mistake - at least I hope it was by mistake and not because she didn't like who I was looking at. lol) so continued using the original pair. When I next went in the Optician said that I needed the same strength that he had prescribed two years before. So it seems that they give you stronger ones and then your eyes need even stronger the next time.

Have been having some problems with my left leg lately, seems that I tore the thigh muscle, have been going to Physio where they have done acupuncture and other stuff to it which has helped seems that I have something called sciatica on that side which from what I understand is problems with the sciatic nerve that runs from the back right down to the foot. to further complicate  matters the left side is also where I had to have my knee re aligned complete with pins years ago. These two problems has caused me to favour that leg which in turn has caused some wasting in the thigh muscle.

I was always a really fast healer but as the years have rolled by it seems to take longer and longer to heal.  Darn its rough getting older.  :thmdwn:

I've been using Multi Focal lenses for many years, but several months ago, I was watching TV and I couldn't focus properly, I took off my glasses and I could see the TV perfectly.  I made an appointment to see the Eye Specialist but I had to get a referral from the Optician and she said that I should get checked for diabetes.  I went to the doctor to see if I had diabetes, but I was OK, no diabetes.  My doctor said it must be because of a 'Healthier Life Style' but I doubt that, as I'm no cook and since my wife died, I get very little exercise.

On my Drivers Licence, it says I must wear glasses while driving, so I had to go to the RTA and get that changed, they got me to read the chart and gave me a new licence.

I have to see the Specialist next month and it all depends on his recommendation on whether or not I see the Optician, as now, I only need glasses for reading.

I hope the other parts of my body improve half as much

Wow Gerry, you are lucky!

I went to the eye doctor a couple of months ago and had to have a load of new prescriptions.  I have glasses for my computer, which are different for the office and for home.  And I now need prescription reading glasses, as well as driving glasses.  I originally had driving glasses about 5 years ago and for some reason, my eyes improved, and I didn't need them any more.  But in the past year, I have had difficulty reading street signs again, so I'm back to driving glasses.

I count myself lucky because my mother started wearing glasses at age 14 and my dad in his 20s.  Until I started getting age-related reading problems, my sight was very good.

In case you haven't noticed, getting old sucks!
